The health and safety of our customers is a major element in Maytronics’ vision for sustainability. We approach matters of health and safety with the highest degree of concern. At Maytronics, we are highly committed to the safety of users of swimming pools and this is reflected in a two-prong approach. The first approach focuses on the assurance by Maytronics that all the company’s products are safe to use for both residential and commercial customers. To meet this goal Maytronics guarantees high standards of health and safety, along with a commitment to go beyond mandated compliance in order to enable our customers to enjoy the safe use of our robotic pool cleaners. The second approach focuses on Maytronics as a manufacturer of specific safety products for swimming pools such as pool alarms and pool covers. We supply swimming pool owners with complementary products to improve safety at residential and commercial swimming pools.
We ensure the safety of our robotic pool cleaners based on international certified standards and regulations that take into account several aspects of health and safety, as well as hazardous materials, product, electricity and electromagnetic compatibility. To ensure standardization of robotic components, we put much effort in to verifying reliability and maintaining the highest standards through our supply chain. To achieve this we at Maytronics assist with external audit services in order to ensure standardization throughout our supply chain, using directives such as REACH and RoHS. Furthermore, we design our products in an innovative way that allows them to be modified for extreme environmental conditions. This is achieved without any concern of potential damage or injury to users.
Our products are produced from the highest quality components that guarantee prevention of fire, electrocution or any other injuries, and go beyond standard local compliance requirements. We are certified by ISO 9001, ensuring that we follow quality management practices.
We further design our products to be user friendly for people who suffer from electromagnetic hypersensitivity. A small percentage of the population is extremely sensitive to light electromagnetic fields, a condition that can cause them to feel slight electromagnetic shocks while swimming. At Maytronics, we aspire to provide all our end users with the feeling of safety while using our products. Moreover, we give high importance to customer information security and privacy protection. To achieve this protection, we use top of the line hardware encryption technology that provides the highest level of user data protection embedded in our robotic pool cleaners. In addition, we perform security surveys conducted by external auditors to ensure protection of customer’s data from hackers.
Our complementary products contribute to a safer swimming pool experience. For example, we provide pool alarms, pool covers and other products for water treatment and monitoring. Our pool alarms are supplied with several safety devices that warn of any unsafe activity and can save lives. The alarms are designed to detect dangerous falls into the water at residential swimming pools, and alerts of drowning events at commercial swimming pools.
An additional way in which we contribute to a safer swimming pool environment is through our pool covers. Preventing unwanted dips or falls into the pool are not the only advantage of our covers. They maintain water temperature, along with isolating to pool from any dirt. This in turn reduces the use of pool chemicals and saves a significant amount of electricity needed for heating the water. Moreover, we also increase safety in our water-powered motors used for operating the pool covers that are designed to prevent risks from corrosion, power failure and electrocution. Additionally, Maytronics is a distributor of supplementary products for water treatment and monitoring through its subsidiaries.
We are certified by the following standardization regarding customer health and safety:
Chemicals and hazardous materials Maytronics is committed to the safe use of chemicals and hazardous materials in accordance with the following standards and regulations, and assures that the requirements are met throughout its supply chain:
• California Prop 65 (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986)
A California law that requires businesses to provide information regarding significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and prohibits the discharge of significant amounts of chemicals into drinking water sources.
• REACH Directive
The European Union (EU) directive aims to protect human health and the environment through early identification of certain chemicals. This, by registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of all chemicals imported or produced in the European Union.
• RoHS Directive
EU legislation that restricts the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
• NSF 50
NSF is an American standard that assures that our products were tested by a trusted independent certification organization. The NSF 50 evaluates risksand toxicity of pool chemicals and requires the testing of trace contaminants in chemicals that are used in the treatment and circulation of swimming pool systems.
Compliance with Quality, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Radio and Safety standards
Maytronics is committed to electromagnetic compatibility in its products, ensuring that the equipment functions satisfactorily in its electromagnetic environment without introducing intolerable electromagnetic disturbances. Maytronics strives to produce safe products in accordance with the following regulatory entities:
• FCC (US Federal Communications Commission)
• EU (European Union) Directives
• UL (Underwriters' Laboratories) Standards
• IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission)
• ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials Safety)
• NFPA (National Fire Protection Association)
• IATA (International Air Transport Association)
• PSE (Product Safety of Electrical Appliances and Materials in Japan)
• CSTB (Scientific and Technical Centre for Building in France) NF Mark
Developing new products for water treatment and monitoring in swimming pools. These will be based on unique technologies and will provide customers real-time data regarding the pool maintenance that achieves a chemical and biological balance in the pool water.
