FAQ

Here are the steps to clean the filter on the NIYA robot:

1. Remove the robot from the pool. Place the robot on a flat, dry surface.

2. Make sure the robot is turned OFF.

3. Press the black latch on the top of the robot to open the filter lid and remove the filter basket.

4. Remove the filter top by pressing the clips on the sides.

5. Rinse the lid and the filter with a garden hose on the highest stream.

6. Place the filter lid back onto the filter basket, it will click into place

7. Return the filter basket to its place. To reinstall the filter lid, place the filter lid clips underneath the black grooves and with a slight push it will click into place.

Charge your Niya in a shaded, dry area with a GFCI outlet. Do not use an extension cord to connect the battery charger to the electrical socket. For user safety, place the battery charger at least 4 feet above the ground while in use. 

1. Connect the charger to the robot in the charging dock on the top of the robot, then plug the charger into the electrical outlet. The LED indicator will light up steady RED during the charging process. 

2. When the device is fully charged, the LED indicator will show steady GREEN. After 10 minutes, it will turn off automatically. 

3. Disconnect the charger from the robot and the electrical socket.

It takes 1.5-2 hours for the Sonar 50 to charge fully. The cleaning cycle times are 2-2.5 hours.

Before replacing the battery, make sure to dry off the robot completely from any water droplets, sand, or debris. We recommend leaving the robot standing idle for 2 days to ensure that all moisture from the device has completely evaporated.
 
Here are the battery replacement steps:
 
1. Turn the robot upside down in a dry area.
 
2. Remove the six screws holding the battery in place with a Phillips screwdriver.
 
3. With a towel, clean any water, dirt, or debris that is in the battery cavity, making sure it is completely dry and clean before continuing to the next step.
 
4. Insert the new battery into the battery cavity.
 
5. Screw in the six screws with a Phillips screwdriver to hold the battery into place.
 
The battery should be disposed of properly at a certified battery electronics recycling location. They should not be discarded as waste and placed in municipal recycling bins or garbage bins. The battery should be disposed of properly at a certified battery electronics recycling location.

Make sure it is fully charged by plugging it into a working outlet and letting it charge for 2.5-3 hours. If the robot still does not turn on, please contact customer care. 

Make sure the pool temperature is not higher than 59°F / 15°C, as this can affect the robot's ability to climb.
We recommend cleaning the filter basket to ensure the robot can climb properly. A clogged filter can affect the robot's climbing ability.
 
Make sure the Floor- Only mode is not set in the niya app. Make sure to set the robot on Slow speed while in Wall or Waterline mode.

The Sonar 50 has three cleaning modes: Standard Mode, Floor Only, and Walls Only. The default cleaning setting is Standard.
 
On Standard mode, the robot will clean the floor, walls, and the waterline for the first hour. On the second hour, the robot will clean only the floor.
 
On Wall Only, the robot will clean the walls and waterline.
 
On Floor Only, the robot will clean the floor only.
 
The modes can be changed directly on the robot, by pressing the button on the top of the device. Press the button to choose a mode, each press will change the mode. When a mode is selected, there is a voice alert confirming the mode selected. The cleaning modes can also be changed in the niya app.
 

The Sonar 50 is a cordless robot that uses smart sonar navigation to ensure it reaches every point in the pool, when the cleaning cycle is complete, you can charge your niya for an energy-efficient cleaning! You can pair the Sonar 50 with the niya application to set the cleaning modes and manage your cleaning. The cleaning modes can also be set directly on the robot. The Sonar 50 comes with a large net filter basket with a lid that allows it to collect and contain all of the debris found in your pool.

The warranty on the Sonar 50 is 24 months.

If you have connected to the niya app before, and lost connection, try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Make sure that all the steps shown in the app have been verified.

2. To connect to the robot, make sure the mobile device is within 16 ft from the robot. (It is not possible to connect to the robot while it is working in the pool.)
